about us

We are a small, family run, business based at Barry Island, with  a passion for the local community.  We are NOT a franchise or part of any large corporation. We wish to assist our local independent businesses and trades, especially during these difficult times. We also wish to push for improvements to the area for residents and to promote the area to tourists.

Penny Mickelsen holds a BA(Hons) and  MPhil in English Literature from Swansea University. She also has experience of managing a Students Union, a Secondary school and the Cardiff Univeristy School of Optometry & Vision Sciences. She has gained valuable experience in marketing and financial managment throughout these roles.  

Gary Mickelsen holds a BSC(Hons) in Computer Science and has over 12 years experience in IT Systems Support & Design and Project Management. Gary still works in his full time role as a Senior Network Engineer but asists Penny in designing the magazine, as well as marketing and admin.
